Syabas Cuts Water Supply Due To High Arrears In Water Bills

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 -- Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) is forced to disconnect water supply at three apartments in Taman Putra Perdana near here since three days ago due to the amount of arrears in unpaid water bills, totalling more than RM682,000, owed by the building management.

The arrears comprised RM268,608 due from Pangsapuri Kenanga, Pangsapuri Kekwa (RM104.449) and Pangsapuri Anggerik (RM309,643), stated Syabas in a statement here Friday.

It said water supply to the apartments would be reconnected after the management of the respective apartments had paid at least 50 per cent of the arrears.

They could also negotiate with Syabas on ways to settle the arrears, it added.

The water supply to the affected apartments was disconnected after the management of the apartment buildings failed to heed reminders issued by Syabas.

However, it said Syabas provided two static water tanks at each apartment buildings for the residents' convenience.
