KUALA LUMPUR - HER face was disfigured by a bestial stepfather who, after raping the 16-year-old girl, splashed acid on the young victim.
Plastic surgery can restore her looks but the family cannot even afford the follow-up treatment for injuries and burns. The girl's chances of having a regular face now is between nil and slim, the girl's mother told Metro Ahad.
She said her eldest daughter was violently assaulted by her husband in August last year at an orchard in Felda Aring Enam, near Gua Musang.
The SM Bandar Ciku student staggered 100 metres out of the orchard to get help and was warded at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian for four months after the attack. Her stepfather reportedly killed himself later by drinking the acid.
The mother said that besides taking care of her injured daughter, she also has to look after three younger children on her meagre monthly allowance of RM300 (S$128) from the Gua Musang welfare department.
'It is impossible for me to hope that my eldest daughter will return to her normal self. 'We cannot afford the treatment for her injuries, what more plastic surgery,' she sobbed.
