Perak to go ahead with May 7 assembly sitting

IPOH, April 25 — Perak will go ahead with the state legislative assembly sitting on May 7, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said today.

He said the issue over the seating arrangements of the assembly raised by DAP, PAS and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) was a trivial matter.

"Don't behave like small children trying to show off in front of the crowd.

"It is not true that the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the opposition pact have a similar number of seats, at 28 each, because BN has the support of three independent members," he told reporters after opening the Perak Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting here.

He said that the situation was the same as in previous administration, but this time around, with the BN holding the majority.

On his appointment as the new Perak Umno chief, Zambry said his principle was to give priority to the people's interest. — Bernama
