Defector says his decision to back BN justified

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 - Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, one of the three defectors from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) said today that his decision to back Barisan Nasional (BN) has been justified by today's Court Of Appeal ruling that Datuk Zambry Abd Kadir is the rightful mentri besar of Perak.

Together with his former PKR colleague Osman Jailu and Hee Yit Foong of the DAP, Jamaluddin had caused the downfall of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government in Perak by becoming "BN-friendly" independent lawmakers in February.

"They kicked me out, saying I had resigned my seat. So I had to find a government that will support me," the Behrang assemblyman said.

Adding that he would continue to support BN, he asked the public to accept the court ruling with an open heart.

"If they respect the rule of law, then the government will definitely be stable," he said.

The defection of the two PKR men in particular had come under severe criticism because they had been executive councillors in Nizar's administration.

They had also been charged in court for alleged corruption, leading to question marks over what kind of deal they may have struck to leave PKR.

Hee, the other defector, had a falling out with her party colleagues and was said to be unhappy with the privileges she received as a deputy speaker in the state assembly.
