TEHRAN (Reuters) - An Iranian court began a session on Sunday to hear Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi's appeal against her eight-year prison sentence for espionage, a Reuters reporter at the court building in Tehran said.

Saberi, a 32-year-old freelance reporter, was detained in late January and sentenced on April 18 on charges of spying for the United States, Iran's arch enemy.

Saberi's lawyer, Abdolsamad Khorramshahi, told reporters Sunday's court session had started.
